A HISTORY OF THE FGCV

1938
Members actively supported the State Billboard restriction legislation.
 
1946
Garden Therapy started at the Veterans Hospital in White River Junction.
 
1947
Four Blue Star Memorial Highway Markers were placed.
 
1955-1971
Developed a Radio program throughout the state with such topics as, Keep Vermont Beautiful, Civic Beatification, Trees In Your Communities, Landscape For Outdoor Living, What Vermont Garden Clubs Do For Vermont, etc.
 
1970
Compiled and published "Endangered Wild Plants and Wildflowers In Vermont".
 
1971
Joined Vermont Green Up Day.
 
1975
Initiated State Scholarship program (Mabel Mayforth).
 
1987-1989
Flower Show School with New Hampshire.
 
1988
First National Garden Clubs Scholarship recipient.
